12/01/2009 - Triangle Welcomes Spokane Web Communications
Spokane Web Communications creates Web sites 'only Web sites, according to Shannon Green, head of marketing and sales. Some of the applications they provide include Web design, Web hosting, custom Web-based applications, support and maintenance for Web sites, usability and communications recommendations for the Web, e-commerce, and content and content management. As part of content management, they offer streaming content. Using a UPI feed, the client Web site may include the latest, up-to-the-minute weather or news instantly streaming onto their site. Spokane Web Communications (SWC) can tailor the streaming content to include only news of a specific nature. They did this for one center of excellence site where only aerospace news was wanted.
Many non-profits want current information included on their sites, according to Green. "The %u2018news content' is also good for search engine position because every click moves you up in the listings," says Green. "Because the entire article is available and the reader isn't kicked out onto another site, the potential client will stay longer. You want to be on the first page of a search engine, or you lose a ton of business."
Along with providing all of the things that a Web site can do, SWC includes the mechanism and training so that the Web site owner can update everything on their Web site. Owners can upload pictures, change the text, change the borders, even change the navigation if they choose 'although that isn't recommended. SWC Web sites start at $2000.
Spokane Web Communications was founded by Jennifer Ferrero and Tony DeStefano about eight years ago. SWC was merged with Tahoe, Inc., in January of 2009, becoming a division of Tahoe, a Green family-owned firm. The company operated in Liberty Lake until September when the firm moved into the Terabyte Triangle. Now SWC headquarters are at 107 South Howard Street, Suite 401. The company moved downtown because "all of the design firms are downtown", according to Green. The company is closer to many of its clients which makes clients' access to training is much easier. "We love it downtown," says Green. In addition to proximity of clients, the diversity of restaurants downtown is appreciated -- along with the many other downtown amenities.
